I was invited to go with 11th Wallington Scouts on their trip to Sweden. We were going to stay on an island called Vässarö, off shore, a couple of hours north of Stockholm.
The island is owned by the Stockholm Scout District, so is a great place to visit.
We flew from Gatwick to Stockholm, and at Stockholm spent our first night in a hostel at the airport which has been converted from a Jumbo Jet! This was a fun place to visit, and I even got breakfast in the morning.
Next day, we travelled
by coach up to the harbour, where a boat had been sent especially to collect us to go over to our island. It was nice being on the boat, as it had been rather hot, and I managed to cool my fur down whilst at sea.
When we arrived at Vassaro, a tractor took our luggage up to our campsite, and we put all our tents up, before exploring the
island, where we stayed for five nights.
After a good nights sleep it was time to get up and get started on all the activities that had been planned.
We were very busy with activities to do whilst we were there, with some water-based activities, including canoeing, raft-building and sailing.
I mainly watched these, as I did not want to get my fur wet, and forgot to bring my life jacket. There were lots of other activities on dry land for me to enjoy.
I helped with the cooking and watched the team games
It rained very hard whilst we did the obstacle course, so we didn’t stay there very long.
I really enjoyed the trapper trail, although I had to be helped to avoid getting stuck in the traps, and we did orienteering and some team games, where I helped tie a knot!
At the end of our week, we had to get up very early in the morning to take the boat back to the mainland and fly home. This part of Sweden is very pretty, with lots of woods and I am hoping to go back again one day.
Thank You 11th Wallington for a fantastic Trip
