The Big day has finally arrived all the planning will ensure much fun and games for all the participants. This way to registration
Drive in and have your mileage ready for Steve or Jill so they can give you final instructions and your route.
Mr Snaggles was on hand and even gave the Cubs some clues to set them on their way. He was also directing the traffic and posing for photographs
The cars of all types arrived. All departed but could not follow each other as there were different routes.
Turn left or right out of the car park and then the clues started. A Queen would not walk in Elizabeth Drive would they?
And only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the Midday Sun. Lester Piggott may have been the jockey who entered here or wetrooms might have been the anagram. All this and they had to collect 10 items too.
Snaggles was out on the course to greet them which must have been some indication they were at the correct stopping points. Time had been allowed at several venues from Earlswood common to Boxhill for drinks, lunch or to find some toilets.
There was even a fly pass of the Red Arrows while on top of Farthing Down.
While all the Cubs were out on the treasure Hunt I thought it was time for my lunch
Then it was time for those out in the Surrey country side to start the final clues like what butterfly might you see or how many types of fish were there in the lake, before heading back as tummy rumbles could be heard growing louder for the hungry hunters.
Many games had been arranged by Ken (Baloo) 3rd Cheam and his team of helpers Dave, Judy and Lois.
The smell of Burger, Sausages and Chicken began to drift across the field and the tombola and raffles prizes were ready to be sold. All the prizes had been donated by members who could not attend on the day.
This is the reason Scouts learn about knots. When the bunting does not quite reach the pole add some more string using a sheet bend knot, as they were not both the same thickness.
All this had been organised to allow the wonderful Car Treasure Hunt Team time to check the mileage, objects collected and discover how many correct answers to the clues, so the prize winners could be announced.
Our District Commissioner Chris Williams had arrived to make a special award
A Silver Acorn from Bear Grylls for our ADC(Cubs) Susan
The prize winners were announced.
